Ant International Secures $1.2B for Global Payments & Agentic Commerce Growth

Ant International, a leading global payments and FinTech firm, has successfully raised $1.2 billion in new Series A equity financing. This significant capital injection is poised to accelerate advancements in cross-border payments and agentic commerce, offering critical solutions for businesses navigating the evolving global market.

Powering Cross-Border Payments and Agentic Commerce

The substantial funding will empower Ant International to enhance its suite of merchant payment, account management, and diverse financial services for enterprises worldwide. This strategic investment particularly targets the unique needs of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) seeking streamlined global operations.

Established in 2024, Ant International encompasses four primary businesses: Alipay+, Antom, WorldFirst, and Bettr. These entities are dedicated to improving global payment interoperability and facilitating cross-border commerce with advanced AI-powered merchant payment, treasury, and credit tech solutions.

Strategic Vision and Market Implications

Ant International reportedly aimed for a valuation of at least $10 billion for this funding round, as reported by Bloomberg News citing familiar sources. The successful raise could potentially pave the way for the company to pursue a public listing in Hong Kong, possibly later this year.

This development follows a restructuring period initiated after Chinese regulators halted the initial public offering (IPO) of parent company Ant Group. The independent board formed at Ant International in 2024 underscores a renewed strategic direction and focus on global expansion.

Evolving Landscape for SMB Global Trade

The new funding arrives at a pivotal time when many SMBs are increasingly seeking FinTech solutions for their cross-border payment needs. Research from PYMNTS Intelligence highlights this shift, emphasizing the crucial role of innovative payment providers in supporting international trade.

The report, titled “The Cross-Border Opportunity: How Payments Innovation Can Help SMBs Go Global,” reveals a growing reliance on FinTechs. Specifically, 36% of internationally active SMBs anticipate utilizing FinTechs or specialized payment providers for cross-border transactions, an increase from 30% in 2025.

A notable 91% of SMBs using FinTech payment providers reported a positive experience, demonstrating high satisfaction with these digital solutions. While FinTechs are gaining traction, traditional banks continue to play a significant role, with 69% of SMBs expecting to use them for cross-border payments, up from 64% in 2025.

This dual approach suggests that SMBs are assembling diversified payment strategies, combining the extensive reach of banks with the agility and specialized offerings of newer digital providers. The expansion of payment options is set to significantly ease global market competition for small businesses as international sourcing continues to grow.

Ant International's Role in Omnichannel Retail Advancement

Ant International's enhanced capabilities in cross-border payments and agentic commerce will directly impact the omnichannel retail ecosystem. By simplifying international transactions and leveraging AI, the company contributes to a more seamless and interconnected customer journey across global touchpoints.

This investment underscores the ongoing digital transformation in finance and retail, reinforcing how technology and corporate strategy are essential for overcoming barriers in global omnichannel retail. Industry professionals and stakeholders can observe how this funding fosters innovation, setting new benchmarks for payment interoperability and customer experience.
