Razor Blades Found in Bread at Biloxi Walmarts
Police in Biloxi, Mississippi, have arrested a 33‑year‑old Texas woman, Camille Benson, on charges of attempted mayhem after razor blades were discovered hidden inside loaves of bread sold at two Walmart stores.
The first reports came from a Walmart Supercenter and a Walmart Neighborhood Market in early December, when customers reported finding blades embedded within packaged bread. Additional tampered loaves were found following further complaints, prompting an investigation by the Biloxi Police Department and cooperation from Walmart.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incidents. Walmart employees removed and inspected all potentially affected products at the locations and offered refunds for any purchased items.
Authorities have indicated that they do not believe other stores were targeted but have encouraged customers to inspect recently purchased bakery products and report any concerns.
Context of Recalls and Regulatory Scrutiny
Walmart has also faced regulatory warnings and recalls in 2025 related to product safety.
In August, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning and recall notice for certain Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp sold at Walmart due to possible contamination with the radioactive isotope cesium‑137 (Cs‑137).
While the level detected was below acute hazard thresholds, the FDA advised consumers not to eat or serve affected products and placed the Indonesian seafood supplier on import alert. Multiple batches were recalled after detection at several U.S. ports, and the warning extended to products distributed in 13 states.
Together, these incidents underscore the challenges large retailers face with product safety and customer trust, prompting intensified internal and external monitoring and communication to protect public health.
