Store Remodels Ahead: Walmart’s “Store of the Future” Rollout Continues

Walmart is remodeling over 650 stores in 2025 with digital touchpoints, activated experiential zones, and upgraded pharmacies—part of its “Store of the Future” agenda.

Walmart continues its sweeping store modernization with hundreds of planned remodels under its “Store of the Future” concept.

Scope of the Remodel Program

In 2025, more than 650 stores across 47 states and Puerto Rico are slated for transformation. This follows earlier efforts where 117 remodeled stores reopened in one single coordinated rollout in 2023, part of a half-billion-dollar investment.

What’s Changing Inside

Upgraded features include expanded and customer‑centric pharmacies and vision centers, integrated digital touchpoints and interactive “activated corners” where customers can explore products in a dynamic environment.

What to Watch This Week

Retail and investor stakeholders should look for:

  • Announcements identifying flagship locations selected for early remodel rollouts.
  • Local store press releases or supplier briefings offering clues on upcoming “re‑grand” events.
  • Community engagement opportunities or market response around remodels as they appear.
