At the Women in Supply Chain Forum in Atlanta, Alexia McLaughlin, Head of Enterprise Sales at Veho, shared her unfiltered story, from corporate to startups and risk-taking.
Breaking into Sales (Without Planning To)
Fresh out of the University of Texas, Alexia started at Oracle in a structured sales role but quickly realized she wanted more impact. After shifting to Jebbit, a CX-focused startup, she found a better fit: working with brands she liked, moving fast and wearing many hats. That momentum eventually brought her to Veho, a delivery tech startup where she helps major retailers level up their last-mile operations.
Why Startups Changed Everything
Big companies offer structure, but startups offer ownership. At Veho, Alexia wasn’t just selling – she was shaping strategy, pushing the company to expand into 12 new Northeast markets to land a major retail client. The high-stakes project succeeded, even with her maternity leave on the horizon.
What Builds Confidence?
Confidence, Alexia says, isn’t natural – it’s built over time:
- Small wins and consistent self-reflection
- Mentorship and real feedback
- Tracking your own growth – something many women overlook
She urges people to write down their wins and advocate for themselves using data, not just effort.
Culture Fit Is Everything
For Alexia, company culture can make or break your trajectory. She believes new hires succeed not from onboarding docs but by observing leadership in action. High standards have to be modeled.
