Amazon Boosts Rural Delivery with Oklahoma Last‑Mile Station

Amazon expands rural delivery infrastructure with a new Oklahoma last‑mile station to improve shipping speeds and support economic growth.

Amazon is dramatically enhancing its rural delivery network with the development of a new 30,000‑square‑foot last‑mile delivery station in Weatherford, Oklahoma, a strategic move that aims to speed up shipping and broaden the company’s footprint in less densely populated areas.

Located on a 10.72‑acre site in Weatherford’s industrial park, the facility represents part of Amazon’s broader initiative to improve last‑mile logistics outside urban centers, where delivery speed has historically lagged behind metro areas. Construction is slated to begin in early 2026, and the new station is expected to significantly improve delivery times for customers throughout western Oklahoma and nearby rural communities.

The Weatherford project also highlights Amazon’s role as a job creator in small‑town America, with local officials projecting around 100 new employment opportunities at the delivery site. This investment aligns with Amazon’s larger commitment to rural logistics, which includes a planned $4 billion expansion of its rural delivery network across the United States.

That broader effort is expected to triple the size of Amazon’s rural delivery infrastructure by 2026 and create more than 100,000 jobs, while enabling the company to deliver over 1 billion more packages annually to customers in more than 13,000 ZIP codes.

By establishing a stronger last‑mile presence in Oklahoma, Amazon aims to address the logistical challenges of serving remote regions, reduce transit times, and elevate customer expectations in areas traditionally underserved by major carriers.

The move also underscores the competitive importance of last‑mile delivery in the e‑commerce and supply chain landscape.
