AEDC Realigns Divisions to Amplify Tech and Minority-Owned Businesses

Restructuring aims to Foster Innovation and Inclusivity, enhancing support for small businesses and encouraging greater collaboration among teams to propel the state's entrepreneurial ecosystem

The Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) is merging its Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise Division with its Small Business Division. This move is part of a broader initiative to concentrate resources on supporting the state's entrepreneurs, particularly in the fields of science, technology, and minority and women-owned businesses. Esperanza Massana-Crane, the new director of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Development Division, will spearhead this consolidation effort.

The restructuring aims to foster greater collaboration among staff members, create new positions crucial for expanding AEDC's services for small businesses and entrepreneurs, and enhance existing services for minority and women-owned businesses. Additionally, the AEDC plans to revamp its website to serve as a comprehensive resource for entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The state of Arkansas has a robust network of individuals and organizations dedicated to advancing small business and entrepreneurship. The AEDC's restructuring is driven by the recognition of the vital role small businesses and entrepreneurship play in the Arkansas economy.
